SPACIA X NIKKO CRUISER: Premium Transport for a Seamless, Elevated Journey
In October 2025, the SPACIA X NIKKO CRUISER, a high-grade charter bus was launched as a joint development by Tobu Railway, Tobu Top Tours, and Nikko Kotsu to elevate travel experiences throughout the region.
Designed as a seamless extension of the SPACIA X limited express, the service connects rail passengers directly to luxury hotels, iconic sightseeing destinations, and activity locations, to ensure a smooth and refined end-to-end journey.
Tailored for both group and small party travel, the SPACIA X NIKKO CRUISER features a spacious three-row seating layout with first class-equivalent seat width, delivering exceptional comfort and exclusivity.
By enabling high-value winter travel packages that blend Nikko’s seasonal landscapes, cultural heritage, and premium accommodations, the service positions itself as a new benchmark for sophisticated regional tourism.
The SPACIA X NIKKO CRUISER features a refined design that inherits the SPACIA X concept, highlighted by a bamboo-weave motif and elegant Edo-inspired colour tones. Accommodating up to 18 passengers, the cruiser is optimised for premium charter use, including seamless connections with SPACIA X’s highest-grade offerings such as the Cockpit Suite and Compartment.
Each premium seat is equivalent to domestic first class with a generous 510mm width, and is equipped with leg and footrests, large tables, AC 100V and USB power ports for superior comfort.
Enhancing functionality and convenience, the vehicle includes a 36-litre refrigerator, approximately 3.6m³ of luggage space, on-board monitors, and a plasma cluster air purification system to ensure a clean and comfortable travel environment throughout the journey.
The SPACIA X NIKKO CRUISER enhances winter travel in Nikko by offering a seamless continuation for visitors arriving from Tokyo aboard SPACIA X.
Designed as a premium ground transport solution, the cruiser eliminates the need for multiple transfers, enabling travellers to move effortlessly between accommodations, sightseeing destinations, and experiences while enjoying a warm, spacious, first-class-equivalent environment ideally suited to winter conditions.
Connecting Tobu Group’s premium hotels with Nikko’s key sightseeing attractions and activity locations, the cruiser enables an elevated and well-curated winter itinerary. Guests can travel directly from renowned accommodations such as The Ritz-Carlton, Nikko and Nikko Kanaya Hotel to iconic destinations including the UNESCO World Heritage Shrines and Temples of Nikko, Tobu Chuzenjiko Cruise, Kotoku Farm, and the Akechidaira Ropeway*.
The service further supports immersive winter experiences by linking travellers to activity and cultural hubs such as the Tobu Nikko Station Tourist Center, the Nikko Natural Science Museum, and Nikko National Park.
The SPACIA X NIKKO CRUISER enables the creation of a well-balanced winter itinerary by smoothly linking iconic sightseeing locations with immersive, nature-based experiences. For example, the UNESCO World Heritage Shrines and Temples of Nikko include two major Shinto shrines, Nikko Toshogu Shrine, dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, founder of the Tokugawa shogunate, and the older Futarasan Jinja Shrine, as well as the Buddhist Rinnoji Temple. This sacred complex of religious structures is set within an ancient, forested landscape, blending architecture and nature with the religious traditions and beliefs of Shinto and Buddhism in Japan.
Complementing this visual experience, the cruiser can also transport visitors to Nikko National Park, a key activity destination offering opportunities to deepen their understanding of the region’s natural environment. Serving as a base for learning about Nikko’s wildlife and ecosystems, the park allows guests to explore winter trails and hike around one of Japan’s highest natural lakes at a comfortable pace.
By combining scenic viewpoints with educational and outdoor activities, the SPACIA X NIKKO CRUISER supports a thoughtfully paced winter journey that balances discovery, relaxation, and premium comfort.
