(Sydney,) Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour today announced receiving full accreditation with Green Globe™ for the third consecutive year, one of the first Sofitel hotel in the Pacific region to achieve this level of sustainability excellence.

 “Green Globe is the world's leading certification for sustainable operation and management of travel and tourism worldwide”, said Sam Panetta,  General Manager Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour.

“As one of Sydney's most iconic landmarks and a leader in the luxury tourism sector, we believe it is essential that we take a lead in this area. To receive accreditation three years in a row and to receive a final score of 96% in our third year is testament to the incredible work that our heartists, owner and Accor do every day to build a better future.  The international sustainability recognition provided by Green Globe™ is so important for the international guests who stay with us”.

The Green Globe™ standard includes a set of criteria across four key pillars of Sustainable Management, Social/Economic Factors, Cultural Heritage and Environmental with more than 380 compliance factors, reviewed and updated annually.

Accor is committed to sustainable development. In 2020, the Group set out its commitment to contribute to net zero carbon emissions globally by 2050 in line with the Paris Agreement and also engaging in absolute reduction of green house.
