Rock star dining just got a whole new main dish, and it has nothing to do with the calibre of the chef or the produce on the plate. Australia's newest private diner comes with one outlandish ingredient: a full-frontal, floor-to-ceiling view of Uluru, often dubbed The Rock.
- Australia's newest private dining experience delivers front-row views to Uluru.

Viewed through a wall-sized window at the end of a long communal table, Uluru sits as guest of honour – bold, red and impossible to ignore. After three days of trekking across the Red Centre, mostly along tracks exclusively mapped for Tasmanian Walking Company guests, the monolith becomes more than the backdrop to dinner; it is the reward for the hard work.
Tasmanian Walking Company co-owner Brett Godfrey says the experience redefines rockstar dining.
“The view down the dining room table will stay with guests forever. It's a runway to Uluru, which looms front and centre, and more epic than any other dining venue in the desert,” Mr Godfrey said.
“From your seat, you see it all: the top, the base, and the sweep of mulga woodlands around it.”
Above the 16-seater dining table hangs a striking coolamon-shaped sculpture by the Tjunpi Weavers of Alice Springs. Crafted from dry grass, merino wool, and hand-dyed raffia, it anchors the room firmly in the desert surroundings.
Dining Meets Desert Design
The private dining room is at the heart of the walk's new architect-designed lodge, the only accommodation permitted inside the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.
Designed to blend into the landscape, the lodge is clad in rusted geCorten steel and built on a slight rise. Its position captures sunrise and sunset, allowing guests to watch the desert light shift across the landscape, silhouetting Uluru and Kata Tjuta.
Guests reach the lodge after 32 kilometres of newly mapped trails and a Valley of the Winds hike. For two nights, they settle into one of 16 premium en-suite pavilions, each with large windows framing desert oak trees and the distant rise of Uluru. Terracotta tones, natural fibres and commissioned Indigenous artwork ensure the design carries the Red Centre's aesthetic indoors.
“The whole five-day experience is designed for eco-minded travellers who value both the beauty and grandeur of the location,” said Mr Godfrey. “Guests spend the first two nights in private eco camps with premium safari tents and open skies. By the time they reach the lodge, they've earned the comfort of en-suite bathrooms and more box-office views.
A Rare Show of Solitude
The lodge serves as the base for the final two nights of the four-night Uluru-Kata Tjuta Signature Walk, giving walkers rare time to absorb the deep solitude of the Red Centre.
“In Yulara township, there is so much 'society' still around you. Out here, as far as the eye can see, there are no other tourists, and the view is everything. You feel like you are on your own,” said Mr Godfrey.
“Anyone can visit Uluru, and everyone should, but only a handful will see how it plays out around the clock. As our guests walk, they'll move away from it and back towards it, watching the formation fade, reappear and change with light.
“This walk will challenge you. But the rewards will be worth it.”

About Uluru-Kata Tjuta Signature Walk
Commencing in April 2026, the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Signature Walk will take visitors on a fully guided, five-day, four-night 54 km walk that starts at the foot of the giant red domes of Kata Tjuta and arcs east over a storied landscape until coming into proximity with Uluru. Guests will stay overnight inside the Park at two spectacular, environmentally minded camps and a lodge, along the way learning about the history and culture of the Anangu people.
