A new dawn begins tomorrow for The Bellarine with the highly-anticipated unveiling of The Queenscliff Hotel. This heritage-listed beauty was built in 1888 for aristocratic holiday-makers and has sat idle since 2015. Tomorrow, 12 accommodation suites will open as well as The Conservatory restaurant, Café 1888, and The Boat Bar. The restoration is an interior design dream curated around original ornate fireplaces, lacework, stained glass windows and an open-air turret with water views.
The in-house Italian fine dining restaurant Mietta's will open on March 28 - honouring the late Mietta O'Donnell, a much loved restaurateur who brought Mietta's restaurant to The Queenscliff Hotel in the 70s. A day spa will open on-site next year.
The property was purchased for $5.5m in 2022 by avocado farmers Tammy and Rob Charter.
“For us, the hotel was far more than a restoration project,” says Tammy. “It was a chance to carefully preserve its architectural and cultural significance for both future guests and the local community.”
The Queenscliff Hotel is family-friendly, accessible and pets are welcome.
